Vegan Burger Shop to Take Over Shuttered Starbucks in Sacramento

Next year, all-vegan burger concept Burger Patch will open its third location in Sacramento, CA.  The restaurant will take over a 1,600-square-foot space previously occupied by Starbucks in East Sacramento, steps from Sacramento State University campus. The location accommodates indoor seating for up to 20 people, but for now, Burger Patch will focus on expanding its “FastPatch” system, which offers contactless ordering and pickup without the need to enter the eatery. The new site will feature a dozen FastPatch bag delivery cubbies built into an exterior window for grab-and-go access by delivery drivers and customers placing their orders online. The system aims to have customers’ orders ready in less than 10 minutes. The new location will also continue the brand’s Patch Match donation program, which has already generated more than $30,000 for organizations supporting positive change.

“The overwhelming support of both our loyal customers and first-timers during these unprecedented months has allowed us to continue our growth and reach closer into the neighborhoods demanding more Burger Patch,” Burger Patch co-founder Phil Horn said. “The appetite for our unique blend of modern ingredients with nostalgic taste hasn’t slowed and we see an aggressive path for continued expansion in the near future.”

Burger Patch was created in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Phillip and Danea Horn, who opened their first brick-and-mortar location in 2019 after several successful burger pop-ups. Earlier this year, the company pledged to donate 100-percent of its profits for one month to the #OURSacramento Save Our Restaurants fund, which was established to help save local, independently owned restaurants during the coronavirus outbreak.
