Atlanta’s Slutty Vegan to Open Third Location

Slutty Vegan to Hand Out Thousands of Impossible Burgers to Atlanta’s Essential Workers

The third brick-and-mortar location of popular business Slutty Vegan is slated to open soon in the Edgewood neighborhood in Atlanta, GA. Entrepreneur Pinky Cole first launched the business as a food truck in August 2018, selling provocatively named vegan burgers made with an Impossible Burger patty that is stacked with various toppings and slathered with a secret sauce. After the truck drew five-hour lines of more than 500 hungry guests waiting to be “sluttified,” Cole opened her first brick-and-mortar location in Atlanta in January 2018—attracting 1,200 customers on opening day. Last month, Cole opened the second Slutty Vegan location in Jonesboro, where 1,000 customers were served on opening day.

While Slutty Vegan continues to grow rapidly, Cole is increasing her efforts to fight for social-justice initiatives through her nonprofit The Pinky Cole Foundation. In recent months, the entrepreneur has helped to feed essential workers during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; partnering with Clark Atlanta University (her alma mater) to fund college scholarships for the four children left fatherless after the death of Rayshard Brooks—a Black man killed by police in an Atlanta Wendy’s parking lot in June; and helping Americans register to vote through a national campaign. Cole is also currently working with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to provide 30 formerly incarcerated youth with job opportunities at Slutty Vegan businesses, along with $10,000 scholarships to help them pursue higher education.

In preparation for the opening of the third restaurant—located near the childhood home of social-justice icon Martin Luther King, Jr—muralist George F. Baker, III covered the front of the restaurant in yellow and black phrases that read “eat more plants,” “powered by grass,” “vegan for the culture.”
