Keen to support more black-owned vegan businesses? Here are five vegan beauty brands founded by creative black women carving their own space in this industry.
Reading through their stories one thing seems clear; the industry wasn’t catering to them. They’ve not only created incredible products and successful brands but are also creating communities and making an impact.
1. Kitaka of London
For glossy, palm oil-free lips look no further than Kitaka of London. Long term vegan Patrice Monique has created a brand that focuses on high performing lip products made using natural and organic ingredients.
Kitaka of London has five gorgeous shades: Pink Sapphire, Morganite, Tiger’s Eye, Onyx, and Amethyst.
2. Afrocenchix
The two founders Joycelyn and Rachael met at university and bonded over frustrations with high street afro hair-care that was full of irritating chemicals. When they couldn’t find any products to suit their needs, they decided to create their own.
3. The Glowcery
The Glowcery skincare feeds your skin all the vital nutrients it needs to be healthy, balanced, and glowing. The brand was founded in 2019 by Roshanne Dorsett: a beauty blogger, trained natural skincare formulator, and proud vegan.
4. Kalabash
The founder Sharron Jenkins created Kalabash to pay homage to her Caribbean heritage. Kalabash aspires not only to help you get great healthy skin but also to evoke momentary soothing Caribbean escapism from the stresses of work and daily life.
5. The Wild Curl
The Wild Curl was founded by Vanessa who not only wanted to create products that allow women to embrace their natural curls but to also educate on how to care for naturally curly hair.
